Halloween Safety


Now that fall is in full swing and Halloween is upon us, it is important to remember with all the festivities to stay safe! Everyone wants to have fun this time of year but accidents do happen and some can cause serious injury. Here are some quick statistics to keep in mind when entering the streets after dark and some safety tips to have on hand.

 

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, last year on Halloween night, three times the amount of fatalities occurred than on a normal day, and intoxicated drivers caused nearly a third of those deaths.

July 4th Safety

The Fourth of July weekend is a time for Americans to celebrate the nation’s birth with family and friends with summer fun, fireworks, and barbeques. Millions of people will take to the roadways over this holiday weekend to get to their loved ones. According to a AAA survey, there will be over 37 million drivers this holiday. That is a 2.9 percent increase since just last year.

National Safety Council's New Study


The National Safety Council’s new study released this week showed a significant increase in the number of traffic fatalities in Georgia over the past few years. According to the study, fatalities in Georgia rose a staggering 34 percent between 2014 to 2016. This two-year increase in fatalities is the highest jump in more than 50 years.

According to the National Safety Council, 40,200 people died in motor vehicle accidents across the United States last year alone. This was the first time fatalities have surpassed 40,000 since 2007.
