Zantac: Mass Tort Lawsuit

Zantac is a common heartburn medication made by Sanofi and is sold is in popular retailers such as CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, and more. In 2019, it was found that Zantac and its generic, ranitidine, contained a dangerous chemical N-Nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA). In 2020, the FDA requested all Zantac and ranitidine products to be removed from stores’ shelves.

Recent research has linked Zantac containing NDMA to various forms of cancer caused by consumption of the dangerous chemical.

Common Zantac and NDMA-related cancers and damages are:

  • Bladder Cancer and Removal
  • Breast Cancer
  • Colon Cancer
  • Liver Cancer
  • Stomach Cancer
  • Prostate Cancer
  • Melanoma
  • Kidney Removal
  • And More

These cancers and diseases are typically diagnosed by medical professionals. If you are experiencing any symptoms of illness and have taken Zantac or ranitidine, please contact a doctor first. Southside Injury Attorneys cannot determine if you have cancer or a disease.

Zantac and ranitidine products have been used for decades and have only recently been linked it cancers and illnesses. A study showed that patients typically reported that they had no family history or genetic markers that indicated how they would develop cancer, so doctors may have misdiagnosed the cause for many victims.

Sanofi and other manufacturers of ranitidine allegedly concealed the link between Zantac and cancer from millions of people for years as the wildly popular drug generated billions in revenue. The companies have only recently received scrutiny and legal pressure to conduct proper testing of their products that contain harmful NDMA. Lawsuits across the country are holding the companies liable for knowing of the dangerous chemicals connection to cancer and refusing to properly test or label their products.

It was found in 2020 that a child had developed testicular cancer through the womb as the mother had taken Zantac while pregnant. The extent of the damages and use of the product is still being investigated as each new case comes in.
